This has been called the best revenue number we've ever had, because of the painstaking way in which it was generated, but there are some mistakes in it. This shows tuition revenue generated by departments and subtracts faculty salaries and benefits. One mistake is in the undergraduate Education numbers. SCAP learned after it made its first report that the salary expenses for Counseling were mistakenly charged to Education, but the revenue was credited to Counseling. So Education does not seem to show a profit, as SCAP later determined that it does. There may be other mistakes here, but SCAP did not have the time to go through all of the numbers and they were not shown to department heads or Deans to review before they were used in the decision-making process. Additionally, although these numbers were used, they are not included in the data presented on the provost's web page. Finally, remember that the revenue reported here is just from tuition. Grants, contracts, endowments, student fees, etc., are not included.
