Wildes Responds to Outgoing Senate Chair

Senators:

FYI: I have received a letter from Fr. Wildes informing me that he has received my cover letter, the "Call for Conversation", and "Critique of Pathways". He has distributed all of the above to the Board.  I quote the two pertinant paragraphs:

"I think the suggestion about conversation is a very good, helpful one. It fits with one of the strategic goals in Pathways. I think it would be an excellent idea to have a conversation with the Board, faculty, staff, and students on governance. We can start this conversation in the fall. And, I hope we will find ways to better structure and organize conversation and improve governance. I think, however, that our conversation needs to be centered on the future of the university, and not the past".

and,

" I will send the material to the Board as you requested. Nevertheless, my impression is that the concerns raised in the memo from the Senate are the same ones that members of the Senate raised with the Board Task Force when they met in the spring. The Board listened carefully to those concerns, but following the discussion decided to approve the Pathways Plan unanimously. I am convinced they will not alter that decision. They have charged me with implementing the plan, and that is what I will continue to do".

Best as can be wishes for the remains.
